Fat Genes or Phat Jeans

Fat Genes or Phat Jeans

You've been genetically programmed to bear extra weight
By Karen Sessions NSCA-CPT
MsFit
Thorough studies and extensive research have determined that you may be overweight or obese due to heredity. Everyone from doctors to dietitians proclaim that you gain weight and/or get fat due to genetics.

Even though your parents, grandparents, and even great grandparents were healthy and at an ideal weight, you can inherit this "genetic fat gene". *enter sarcasm here* They reason, "it's not your fault", to make you feel better.
How does that strike you? This should down right anger you that they are spending millions of dollars to "prove" that you are genetically predisposed to be heavy with the inability to lose weight.

You've literally been brainwashed by leading officials in the "health care industry" that you gain weight due to a genetic disposition. On top of that, they want to create a drug to combat this "genetic fat gene".

This is along the same lines as, "if heart disease run in your family, there's a great chance you'll get it too". I'm sorry, but that's a load of crap. Families inherit eating traditions and unhealthy lifestyle habits.

If you follow an unhealthy eating pattern, you will suffer the same risk factors and consequences as your parents and grandparents. If you change your eating, you can change your health and well-being.
When the "health care industry" tells you that you have a "genetic fat gene", you will be more likely to tolerate weight issues and accept prescribed drugs to "balanced" the condition for the rest of your life. What a brilliant marketing plan. They take themselves and you out of the equation, and blame weight issues on something beyond your control.
My primary question is, if obesity began to increase at an alarming rate in the last 25 years, where was that fat gene then? Why did it all of a sudden become an issue? Is the fat gene contagious? Is there a fat gene epidemic?
When the pharmaceutical industry funds certain "studies" and "researches", drawing out conclusions that are beyond one's control without the aid of drugs, something is wrong.

There is a lack of true science involved in most researching, simply because they are focused on the result they want. By manipulating time, subjects, amounts, etc., ANY study can be created with any result they want.

Breaking the Silence
Granted, heredity can play a great role in weight issues, but it does not determine whether you will be skinny or fat. These factors can be broken down into body types and body shapes. What I can say is your diet and exercise can be based on these two factors to create the type of body you desire.
Some causes of weight gain can be contributed to overeating, carbohydrate abuse (past or present), eating too much processed food, lack of exercise, etc.

As you can see, these are learned or acquired behaviors. You don't pop out of the womb with these traits.
There is another side to the equation, such as medical issues, including metabolic challenges due to hypothyroidism, sluggish liver, improperly functioning pancreas, sluggish digestive track, medications, and so on. I will tap on a few of these later.

How to Battle the Bulge
Dietitians, physicians and other "experts" declare that to lose weight you must eat fewer calories and exercise more. Burn more calories than you eat. Of course, that sounds logical.
Another panel of "experts" suggests that to lose weight you have to reduce the amount of fat you eat, because we all know that fat makes you fat, right? This too sounds logical.
So there you have it. In order to lose weight you have to lower calories and fat, and exercise more. Now, if we lower calories and fat, we are left with eating only carbohydrates and protein.

Pardon my sarcasm, but isn't the latest trend in the weight loss and fitness industry, that carbs make you fat?
Therefore, we are left with cutting calories, fat, and carbs, and doing a lot of exercise. That must be the secret to weight loss. I'm sure many of you have tried this method only to lose muscle and energy and ended up a smaller version of your previous fat self. Right?
After a quick scan of our top "expert's advice", we realize that they are all wrong.
Statistics show that what we are being taught about weight loss is not working. Rather than giving us true facts about how to master fat loss, we are being told that it's in our genes. How absurd is that?

Look at all the success stories of people who were over weight and even obese that ate right and exercised and lost fat. What happened to their fat gene?

Revealing the Truth
No matter what, the truth is usually the hardest thing to face. So, what's the truth about fat loss? Technically, it's your body's chemistry.

Your body chemistry determines how your body responds to food. The benefit to this is that you can alter your body chemistry and make it work in your favor. The detriment is that you can also alter your body chemistry and make it worse, causing weight gain.
This is where it's important to know how to play the weight loss game. The secret is in understanding how your body responds to certain macronutrients (protein, fat, and carbs) and using that information to manipulate the body into burning fat.

Undisclosed Facts
There are many factors affecting one's weight loss, and many of these issues have not even surfaced through the media or magazines.

Specifically engineered diet foods and other processed foods are one of the leading causes you may be overweight or have a difficult time losing weight, not a genetic fat gene. The majority of the population is consuming chemically altered substances called, food.

These man-made food imitations are loaded with various toxins, such as sugar, artificial sweetners, MSG, and many other chemicals that prevent the body from breaking them down to use or dispose of. These toxins literally clog your body's systems, alter your body's pH, and virtually pollute your body to the point where it can't lose fat or retain muscle.

To make a bad story worse, these chemicals (additives) causes illness and diseases.
Today, people are eating diet foods by the truck loads for that extra weight loss advantage. These foods are labeled, "fat-free", "low-calorie", "cholesterol-free", "sugar-free", "“low-carb", "carb-free", etc. Why aren't people losing weight on this stuff?

It is marketed to those interested in losing weight. These diet food products to lose weight and be healthy that couldn't even be manufactured 50 years ago.

The dirty little secret about these wonderful diet foods is that the food industry is putting ingredients in food products to make you hungry and make you addicted. Now, it's not just diet foods only.

Anything processed contains chemicals to work against the body and cause adverse reactions.
Envision this. You are composed of 73 trillion cells that are engineered to be healthy. Cells perform all the fundamental functions of life.

These cells carry out daily tasks to keep you healthy and alive.

A healthy and clean diet rich in natural foods produced by Mother Nature will equal healthy cells that function optimally. On the other hand, a polluted diet composed of processed and commercial diet foods including deli cuts, anything boxed or canned, fast food, and such will yield polluted cells that don't function as they were engineered to.
Simply stated, your body is designed to breakdown and digest natural foods, those you can hunt, gather, fish, and pick. When you put a foreign food in your body (processed), your cells don't have the ability to break it down and digest it.

This foreign matter can't be used to rebuild the body's tissues, and these toxins just hang around in your body, clogging up your system and altering your pH. When your body can't rebuild itself with a toxic diet, it will turn on itself to feed its needs.

This literally means that your body will rob your bone and organs to get the enzymes it needs to survive.
Therefore, when you develop osteoporosis at a young age, look at your diet. Is your diet high in processed foods, which lack and rob calcium? Are you eating enough natural vegetables that are calcium rich? Osteoporosis is not genetic, it's acquired.

When you develop heart disease before the age of 40, take a good hard look at your diet. Your body doesn't care where it gets the enzymes, as long as it gets it.

If this means robbing Peter to pay Paul, it will do it! Before you go blaming your parents and grandparent's, take a look at your own eating habits first. It's not your fault. "Conventional-wisdom" has deceived you.

Failure to Inform
Why isn't this in the news? Why isn't our doctors' telling us this? With the cost of insurance and doctor visits, you would think they would enlighten us rather than telling us we have inherited a genetic fat gene.
Well, one reason your doctor doesn't tell you this is because they are taught very little, virtually two clock hours of nutrition in medical school.

Doctors are taught how to write prescriptions and do surgical procedures in medical school. If our bodies survive on food, which is comprised of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, then why do they dismiss the very essentials that we are built on and our bodies thrive on? They simply don't know.
The United States is number 37 on the World Health Index and in the top 5 in technology. With all our technology, why are we so overweight, out of shape, sick and diseased? Why is our health at stake? A new drug is not the answer.

Obviously all their studies and research aren't doing much good. The public is being kept in the closet on fitness, nutrition, and health. The true scientific facts are being suppressed, at the cost of your waistline and health. Angry yet?

Metabolic Weight Loss Challenges
Earlier I mentioned certain conditions that could be hindering your weight loss endeavors, such as a poor functioning liver or pancreas and such. Not always, but generally your filtering and metabolic organs can become toxic and prevent them from functioning optimally.

Usually people go straight to their doctor to get the latest drug or surgery, but before you do, give detoxifying a try. Often times our bodies run under par due to the amount of toxins we receive from processed foods, personal hygiene, and/or polluted air and water. Toxins need to be flushed out because they get trapped and stored in fat cells.

They can bloat you, alter your pH, prevent fat loss, and cause a whole host of illnesses and diseases. A simple detoxifying program can purge all the impurities out of your body and allow it to operate as it was intended to do.

Bust out of Those Phat Genes
Now that you know that you are not genetically predisposed to be overweight, you can look into eating more natural foods and detoxifying your system to get your body to work with you, and not against you.

3 Fattening Habits - You Must ELIMINATE Now!

By Karen Sessions NSCA-CPT
MsFit

In today’s society, eating is completely out of control. Food convenience has led to a nation of overfed and undernourished people, and the statistics and waistlines are growing by the day! I often wonder if people actually understand the dramatic impact food has on the human body.

There is mass confusion in regards to dietary guidelines and healthy eating. With the overwhelming amount of information about health and fitness at hand, people’s health and waistlines are suffering more and more.
The more confused people are about dietary guidelines, the more likely they are to jump from one fad diet to the next with a nice mix of yo-yo dieting in between. This is hardly healthy or effective.

Today, people are literally obsessed with weight loss and extreme dieting. People spend billions of dollars each year on expensive gadgets, lotions, and pills for that quick weight-loss fix – that never works. Your dream body can’t be bought; you must earn it through educating yourself on nutrition and exercise. Only then will you see results that are lasting.

If you want to win the battle of the bulge, then you need to make some healthy changes that turn into lasting healthy habits.

It’s now time to discuss the fattening habits you must eliminate now!

Fattening Habit #1 – Feeding your thirst with colas
Generally, when someone is thirsty he or she grabs a soda. Sure, a soda is a wonderful thirst quencher, but it is void of nutrients. The principle of food and water it to provide nutrition to the body for fuel or building purposes.

Water is the basic element of life, not cola. Colas are packed with sugar and carbonation.
Sugar promotes tooth decay, interferes with the absorption of protein as well as the absorption of calcium and magnesium, contributes to osteoporosis, causes water retention; the list goes on and on.

Don’t let the diet sodas fool you. You may find many health and fitness “experts” promote diet sodas, but there is nothing healthy or that promotes fat loss with diet colas.

Diet colas can actually cause fat gain! Aspartame can cause an insulin reaction in the body. It’s not due to the carbs because diet drinks don’t contain any. The insulin spike is in response to the sweetness of aspartame. The sweet taste sets off a chemical reaction in the body, the same as it does in the presence of carbs. A constant high insulin level equals fat gain.

Be weary of the "expert" that claims aspartame is okay.

Fattening Habit #2 – Lack of essential fat
When the low-fat era hit in the late 1980s, the consumption of essential fat dramatically dropped. Whole eggs were shunned for the highly popular egg white, and red meat was tossed aside for its low-fat counterpart chicken and turkey choices.
With the low-fat movement, we have become fatter and on top of that, undernourished.

Your body requires fat to function. Essential fat is necessary for your metabolism, brain function, hormone production, absorption and transportation of vitamins and minerals; all important facts when it comes to fat loss.
If you eliminate essential fat from your diet, you are eliminating an important element!

If you are worried about cholesterol, don’t. Cholesterol is actually a building material in the body and a protector. Cholesterol build hormones and essential for normal brain function.

Fattening Habit #3– Eating boxed “healthy foods”
Commercially prepackaged meals and food items contain more chemicals than nutrients. What can your body do with chemicals? Lodge them in your fat cells to be come toxic and cause illness and disease, cellulite, and prevent fat loss.

Just for the fun of it I went to the market and read the side of a boxed food item that appeared healthy to the average person. The food item was Morning Star Veggie Bites. I counted over 40 ingredients, and some of those ingredients were broken down even more.

Understand that it’s not 40 ingredients of nutrients for energy or building materials. It’s over 40 chemicals! Even the spinach was genetically modified. If your body can’t use the ingredients you put into it, how can it burn fat? It can’t.

Fattening Habits Conclusion
Your body needs to be able to process what is put into it. If your body cannot use what you eat, it will store it as fat and/or toxins.

To lose fat, stop drinking colas and diet colas and start drinking more pure and filtered water. Don’t be afraid to eat fat. Your body needs it to function and lose fat. Stop eating boxed (processed) foods, even if they read “healthy,” “low-carb,” “low-sugar,” etc.
Nothing is as good for your body and waistline as nature’s God given food supply.

Do You Look The Way You Eat?

A a lot of women seem to shell out tons of cash on the newest creams and lotions, hoping to give them that glimmer or glow that they are looking for. There is something these people are unaware of – if they were to eat more healthily, they’d have this glow naturally. In fact, healthy eating is the key to feeling good and looking younger. If your body is healthy on the inside, it will look good naturally on the outside. Then there’s plenty of money to be saved on creams and lotions.

If you ask any beautiful woman what her secret is to having such an attractive glow and healthy skin, more often that not it is because of the healthy foods they eat, not the creams they use. So if you want to have healthy skin, look young and feel good, the solution is simple – change your diet.

You may find it hard to stick to a diet if you have such a hectic schedule, but ask yourself this: if your lifestyle is so hectic, how are you going to feel good and be healthy? You need to make the time to eat meals every day; food should be your top priority.

Start off by making enough time to eat breakfast every day. Cereal is a simple, quick and easy breakfast to eat if you don’t have much time. A glass of juice on top of this would make for a very simple yet very healthy way to start the day.

If you want to look your best, you will have to learn to love veggies. Leafy vegetables and salads will provide you with an abundance of vitamins that you need for healthy skin, and will also give you more energy, making you look more vibrant. One of the best healthy diets for your skin is called The Lunch Box Diet – voted ‘the best diet’ by top fashion magazine Elle, the diet reports your skin will feel different in just 7 days. Click here to find out more.

Try to include a lot of fish in your diet, as fish contains Omega-3 fatty acids. Also, fruits and lean meats are essential, and beans, nuts and eggs are advised as they supply a good source of protein. Eat low fat foods, but don’t cut out the fats all together – you need some to aid your body’s development.

Think of this way – you look like what you eat. If you eat only healthy and vitamin-filled foods, you will look attractive and youthful on the outside, but if you eat junk food all day long… well, don’t expect many men to be asking for your number any time soon.

Tips & Exercises For Productive Abdominal Workouts, Work Your Way To A Flat Tummy!

Everyone wants a flat stomach and conditioned abdominal muscles. To accomplish this fitness level, and the desired look it will require some effort on your part. You will need to adhere to a routine of dedicated, and regular abdominal workouts. As well, you will need to make some lifestyle changes in other areas. Below is some information and tips which you may find helpful in your quest to form tight abs.

First, it is important to know which exercises improve the condition of abdominal muscles. Certain exercises work certain areas of the body. To achieve firm, flat abs you need to focus on core exercises, which will give all your abdominal muscles a workout. Core exercises work all the muscle groups among the shoulders and pelvic area. You may be wondering why you would include these other muscle groups in your abdominal workouts. The answer is easy in theory. These muscle groups work together as a well-conditioned machine, keeping your stomach muscles strong, healthy, and firm. Here are some core exercises that will help to tone your midsection:

1. Traditional floor or swiss ball crunches are a good example of an upper core exercise with an abdominal workout. These will help to firm upper abdominal m and aid in ridding the midsection of unwanted belly fat. crunches lie down on an exercise mat or on a swiss ball. should be positioned flat on your back. Bend your knees so that the bottoms of your feet are resting comfortably on the mat.

Now cross your arms over your chest(The Mayo clinic recommends this position rather than cupping hands behind your neck. is to avoid injury to the neck or head). are ready to crunch! or contract your abdominal muscles, as if you are sucking in your stomach. brings your abdominal muscles upwards, toward the ribcage. this muscle position and lift your head and shoulders off the mat. this position for 30 seconds and then relax. this exercise several times.
2. Bicycling is another wonderful abdominal exercise. This can be done simply by riding an actual bicycle around the park or riding a stationary bike at the gym. If you do not have access to either of these options, you can do bicycle exercise, which mimics actually riding a bike. Lay down on the floor. Next, raise your leg's up in the air and bend them at the knee. Now you're ready to ride the bike! Just start moving your legs in the same motion you would if you were riding an actual bicycle.

3. The pelvic tilt is a good core exercise for beginners and pros alike. Lay flat on the floor. Keep your arms at your sides. Bend your knees, keeping the soles of your feet flat on the floor. The heels of your feet should be about placed about six inches from your buttocks. Now your ready to move! Contract the lower portion of your abdominal muscles. As you contract the abdominal muscles firmly, yet slowly press your back to the floors surface.

Hold this position, keeping you're back pressed to the floor and your abdominal muscles contracted for about ten seconds, then release. Repeat these steps several times. This may sound easy, yet it will really give your abs a good workout.

The above are just a couple of examples of the many exercises which you can include in your abdominal workouts. Visit a local gym and ask to speak to a trainer. A good trainer can help to cultivate an exercise routine which is tailored to your individual exercise needs. He or she can help you to assess your overall fitness level, determine your goals, and show you a way to archive success.

Furthermore, keep in mind, that diet and nutrition play a huge part in losing belly fat and gaining a flat stomach. Pay attention to your food choices and avoid those which are high in fats and calories. As well, you will want to leave starches off the menu. Two of the worst food enemies for belly fats are potatoes and bread.

They may taste well, but they are sure pack on the pounds and take away from the firm, tight abs you so desperately want. The combination of good diet habits and regular exercise will have your abs firm in not time flat!
